Pricing

Kids or Family Portrait Session: $750

Includes: 1 hour session at the location of your choice, image retouching, 5 8x10 or 5x7 prints, and a CD with the images from the shoot (usually 80-150 images) in both color and black and white. I will work with you ahead of time to determine the setting, clothes and time of day that best fits the look you want.

Returning customer discount: $100

Returning customers will receive a one time $100 discount for sessions in 2012 (not combinable with the multiple session $200 discount).

Newborn Session: $750

Includes: 1.5 hour session at your home, approximately 75 images in color and black and white and the digital files on CD.  Think of it as a family session with lots of pics of the baby as well. Additional family members can be included in shots of the newborn(s) at no extra charge.   If you want the baby asleep and squished up in poses for the shoot, the first week is best. If you want the baby smiling wait a couple of months. For scheduling, we can pick a date based on your baby's expected arrival. After the baby is born we can move the date or time if needed.  If you like announcements on Tiny Prints website (www.tinyprints.com), I have a partnership with them and can provide you a discount on your announcements.

Maternity and Newborn Package: $1300

Includes: One 1 hour maternity portrait session, one 1.5 hour newborn session, 5 prints from each session and a CD with images from each session.  The best time for maternity shots is between 7-9 months . The newborn session can be scheduled based on your due date.  Spouses, Grandparents and other children can be included in the maternity and newborn sessions at no extra charge.  

Headshots/ Executive Portraits/ Dating and Social Networking Portraits: $500

$500 per person photographed.   Choose outdoors or on location at the work site (either with a background or with the work setting as a background) or I can advise you for the best option for your business. Traditional corporate headshots take approximately 20 minutes per person,  Outdoor sessions are 30-45 minutes (depending on outfit changes).  Session fee includes a CD with high resolution images and retouching on photos. Companies pleaase contact me for discount pricing for 5 or more portraits done in one session.

Photography Lessons: $150/hour

Many people have bought the gear but now don't know how to use it. There are a number of classes around town, but as a mom I know it's hard to find time to go to the classes, get a sitter etc. So I come to client's homes (or a location like a park) and go over any questions you may have about photography, how to do basic shots, how to make your family candids better etc.  Our talk will be tailored to your needs and your kids can be there as well (both for convenience and they act as great subjects). If 2 or more of your friends want to do a session together the cost is $75/person. 

Referral Program

Refer a friend and receive a 5x7 print. When your friend books a session you will receive a  5x7 for any past session or you can save it for a future session.

Extra CDs

Extra CDs can be purchased for $10 each.

Gift Certificates

Order a gift certificate for a portrait session, or a birth announcement session for a parent-to-be. Some customers have hired me to photograph a birthday party as a surprise gift to the birthday girl/boy.  I can also work with you to offer a custom gift. Gift certificates are handsomely packaged in a black fold-over heavy weight card with silver ribbon and can be mailed to you or directly to the gift recipient. Print, Books and Canvas Pricing

Prints: After our session you will receive a CD with all of the best images from your session. You are free to print the images at the location of your choice. That being said, many print locations will print your photos in a sub-standard manner. For this reason, I also upload your images to a site where you can order prints from a professional lab.    

Canvas printing is another great option.  In our earthquake prone area, canvas is a nice glass-free option and gives a more artistic look to photos. Prices vary depending on the size you want, thickness of board etc. If you are interested in canvas, let me know and we can go over pricing.

Why do you offer the digital image files and not charge more for prints?

Photographers spend a great deal of time working on images after a session is over: cropping, changing coloring, and fixing imperfections in each photo. Because so much time is invested in this process, photographers want to be sure the photographs clients take home at the end of the day fully reflect the finished image. When digital files are printed at Costco, Walgreens, or Shutterfly, the finished quality is something less-than-professional. In that case, the photographer risks losing the goodwill of her client, in addition to the added disappointment of having her photographs on display in a sub-par manner. So, photographers keep the images in-house and have you buy your images from them (for tens or hundreds of dollars) in order to control the print quality. As a photographer, I understand that model. But as a mom and a client, I find this arrangement frustrating and expensive. So I structured my own business differently.

I decided that my clients would keep the digital files and that prints would be affordable. Many people want to create a year end book that includes their own photos as well as professional photos or they would like to use professional photos for cards. When you pay for a session with me, you will be guaranteed not only my time, professional skill and attention to detail, but you will receive the digital files at the end of the process. In addition, I upload your images to a site where you can easily order prints in various sizes, printed by a professional lab, and on high-quality paper so that you receive a perfect representation of the finished digital image.

What does your competition charge?

Studios and other photographers often charge less for the session fee (usually around $250), but then charge between $20-$150 for a 5x7 print. Some sell a CD with the digital files but usually for $600 or more and most only offer low resolution images (low resolution images can only be enlarged to 4x6 or 5x7 size). In some instances, photographers and studios charge around $200-$300 for the session and $100/print. That may be reasonable if you only want 1 image, but odds are they have captured at least 5+ images that you love. So, in order to keep those images,  you will need to buy 5 prints. You will leave the transaction spending $800 or more and will not have the negatives or digital files to keep.
